E2AC On Campus

Join a global student community of changemakers devoted to content for good.

The next generation of social impact entertainment is here.

At E2AC, we believe strongly that young people have the unique opportunity to create change in their communities and beyond. Whether it’s creating content, sharing and amplifying it, or advocating on behalf of important social causes bigger than us all, E2AC On Campus taps into the potential of those who want to spark change in our society.

Because change is good.

SUMMER: SIE 101

Students become introduced to E2AC through our free, 6 week summer course: Social Impact Entertainment 101. Taught with Fordham University professor of Media and Journalism (and E2AC Advisory Board member!) Justin Maiman, the course introduces the subject as well as how to create, appreciate, critique, measure, and ultimately amplify all things SIE. Highlights include a live Pitch Content (the midterm) and creation of an impact campaign for a selected film presented directly to the filmmakers (the final).

Applications can be found on Handshake - they open each year in March and close by end of April. Each year 100+ students submit an application and video of their interest, then interviewed in a group by E2AC staff, volunteers, and student alums. The top 25 are chosen for the course. Past students are eligible for paid internships as TAs and on assorted projects offered over the summer, too.

FALL/SPRING: ON CAMPUS SCREENING SERIES

After completing the summer course, students are eligible for paid positions to lead screenings of social impact entertainment at their campuses. They organize the event, learn how to market it, invite both filmmakers and external partners in addition to students, and lead talkbacks and Q&As.

Additional students who have not completed the SIE 101 course are eligible on a rolling basis, but summer alums are given preference.

Eligible partner films are chosen by E2AC's Student Leadership and Sizzle 2 Screen Documentary Accelerator volunteer group.

SPRING: SOCIAL IMPACT FILM FESTIVAL

The Social Impact Film Festival is led each year by our student leadership. In 2023, the Festival Executive Producer was Alex Shores (Boston University) - making him the youngest Film Festival EP in the country.

The festival is part volunteer service fair, part film forum: we showcase short films, sizzle reels for works in progress, and trailers for soon-to-be-released documentaries and combine a screening experience with the energy of a service fair: nonprofits aligned with subject matter of the films are invited to attend and table.

The Spring 2023 festival was sold out at Boston’s WBUR CitySpace - with more cities to come in 2024! Check out the films on E2AC+.

E2AC STUDENT LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE

The top students from our course are asked to be part of our national E2AC Student Leadership Committee. They receive paid stipends for their work on various E2AC projects. (Example: our program Sizzle 2 Screen was developed by Maggie Borgen (Boston University) during her fall semester leadership position!)

TAs for our summer course are alums from prior semesters. Past paid TAs included students from Loyola Marymount, the University of Georgia, Chapman University, and Boston University. After graduating past Leadership Committee members are invited to join our Emerging Leaders Board to meet fellow recent grads around the country.
